In announcing the decision to proceed with Finch West, the Minister of Transportation Steven Del Duca also announced the delay of work on the Sheppard East LRT until 2022. This project has been postponed while the TTC, Metrolinx and all levels of government work on coordinating plans for the Scarborough subway extension and SmartTrack. In June the City, TTC and Metrolinx held a series of planning consultations across Toronto during on upcoming transit initiatives in the planning stage.

A further consultation on recommendations from this study will happen in September, and the City’s Transit Strategy will be put before Council this October/November.
