Social Enterprise Community Benefits Plan

The TCBN Social Enterprise Working Group has developed a plan in consultation with Metrolinx and United Way’s Toronto Enterprise Fund (TEF) for building the relationship between the Crosstown Project and this important sector. TCBN’s focus on Social Enterprise is to enable the growth of a supportive business environment where members of disadvantaged communities who have become marginalized from the labour force can earn while learning job skills, gaining work experience, and contributing in a workplace that is designed to offer social as well as employment supports. As a support for implementation, the Toronto Social Purchasing Project and TEF are now positioned to work on building capacity of groups to deal with market opportunities in the Crosstown Project and ensure readiness to deliver on time and on budget. Next steps are to identify training requirements for making it work.
