Community Benefits in the City’s Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy

During June, Toronto City Council approved its interim Poverty Reduction Strategy following 6 months of public consultations.  A major advocacy campaign is underway by Community to Community that is empowering members of communities across Toronto to give voice to the complex issues affecting their lives as a result of poverty.

This effort is ensuring a strong message is given to Councilors and City Committees supporting a range of proposed actions on Good Jobs, Food Security, Affordable Housing, Transit, Access to Services, combined with a clear call on principles and process .  Community Benefits has been recognized as a valuable way for taking action on jobs.  The staff report on the finalized strategy comes to Council this Fall.
