During this event we will focus on what is needed to protect and enhance quality jobs in Toronto and to advance policies, program and action that will support more quality jobs with a focus on equity and sustainability.
The event will include presentation and discussions on the following:
1. FIFA World Cup 2026 - Community Benefits Plan
TCBNs advocacy alongside community, labour and environmental organizations has led to a commitment for a Toronto FIFA 2026 World Cup Community Benefits Plan. What does this plan include? What type of inclusive employment, training and business procurement opportunities will be made available? How will equitable opportunities for youth be prioritized?

2. City of Toronto new Action Plan for Toronto's Economy and municipal policies to support quality jobs and an inclusive local economy
Learn more about important municipal policies and levers to support quality jobs and an inclusive local economy in Toronto. You will hear updates on our advocacy for the city's first Inclusive Economic Development framework along with the Action Plan for Toronto's Economy (the City of Toronto Economic Plan for the next decade). You will also hear about our recommendations to enhance and stregthen City levers, programs and policies like the Social Procurement Program, Community Benefits Framework and the Community Improvement Plan for the Economic Development and Growth in Employment Incentive Program (EDGE).

4. The Downsview Transformation: A community-based vision for equitable development at Downsview through community benefits
Learn more about our recently launched CBAforDownsview report, a community-based vision for the future redevelopment of the Downsview area. For over 70 years, Downsview has been home to the Bombardier DeHavilland Aerospace Manufacturing Facility one of Canada’s leading centres of high-tech engineering and technological employment. With the move of this manufacturing facility as a catalyst for the Downsview redevelopment, the report emphasizes the importance of maintaining good jobs and decent work opportunities as part of future developments and ensure local and equitable economic development through community benefits commitments.

5. New Transit Development - Ensuring new transit projects deliver on local community benefits and equitable development
Toronto is seeing a massive investment of new public transit totalling over $50B in public taxpayer investment. At a time of increasing income inequality and poverty in Toronto and high youth unemployment (especially amongst Black youth), how can we ensure Metrolinx uphold its commitments to co-develop local employment plans and equitable pathways for communities to benefit from these projects and the economic opportunities it generates.
