Ready to Build - Please RSVP

Ready to Build Campaign Launch Event May 19th

We invite you to join us for our Ready to Build campaign launch event on May 19th, where we will highlight the community’s success in negotiating job opportunities on the Eglinton Crosstown transit build.

The event will feature community leaders discussing the importance of community benefits in a green economy, as well as how it can help reduce inequality and break down the barriers to opportunities for historically disadvantaged communities.

We will also have a community benefits bus tour for community leaders and those who wish to learn more about getting into the construction industry and finding work on the Eglinton Crosstown.

In order to help the event go according to schedule we will be needing volunteers. If you are able to get involved, please select your preferred shift time when you RSVP.

Community Benefits Bus Tour - May 19th

When you RSVP to the campaign launch event please indicate if you will be attending the community benefits bus tour, which will leave from outside of the event venue at 11:30am. The bus tour will involve looking at the progress of the Eglinton Crosstown build with a guided tour from the onsite Project Manager.

Day of Mourning - April 28th

Every year on April 28th the labour movement holds the annual Day of Mourning for workers killed or injured at work, or suffering from occupational disease. This is the 25th anniversary of the Westray mine disaster in Nova Scotia, and the Steelworkers relentlessly campaigned to hold corporate executives responsible for workplace deaths.

Join the Labour Council in York Region at 11am at the Woodbridge Memorial Arena, or 12pm at the Larry Sefton Park (Bay Street, north of City Hall).
