Is a Casino an appropriate model for economic development?

Join us this Saturday, July 14 from 12 noon - 4 pm at Elmbank Community Centre, 10 Rampart St. at Martingrove and Finch to celebrate the Rexdale community coming together to win a ground breaking Community Benefits Agreement through expanded gaming at Woodbine Racetrack.

The decision to allow expanded gaming within the city of Toronto did not come easy. Is a Casino an appropriate model for economic development? That the development includes the City’s first ever Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) is an undeniable accomplishment.

TCBN advocates for good work and economic development for the community. When that economic development comes with risks to the well-being of the community how do we mitigate that risk; a CBA can be that risk mitigation tool. The City of Toronto showed leadership by committing to a CBA with strong oversight and the unique inclusion of a childcare facility that will improve access to women and families working at Woodbine's expanded gaming complex.
