At the July Toronto & East York Community Council meeting, a new development proposal in Little Jamaica was approved. The development proposal includes a plan to build two new towers (37-storey and 39-storey) which will replace existing residential and retail at 1675-1685 and 1711-1741 Eglinton Ave. West. Through our coalition advocacy, deputations and working with local City Councillor Josh Matlow, the coalition was successful in securing considerations to protect existing tenants and businesses and ensure the development plan includes affordable housing and community benefits.
