Inclusive Planning Economy

Are you currently working as a Planning Professional or studying in the Planning Field? We would like to connect with you!

The Toronto Community Benefits Network and CP Planning would like to invite you to take part in a survey gathering valuable information that will help to shape our new project.

Our project focuses on connecting BIPOC youth, young professionals, racialized newcomers, and BIPOC-led organizations with information, training, employment opportunities, and networking support to join and thrive in the Housing Planning and Development industry. We see immense value in these stakeholders having an increased role to shape housing access and availability in transit adjacent neighbouthoods in our communities. This is in particular, as these stakeholders are most impacted by the lack of affordable housing and experince systemic barriers to protecting and promoting the wellbeing of racialized peoples.

HOW WE WILL USE YOUR INFORMATION

  • To help guide our development of a Resource Guide and Journeymap to Professional, Administrative and Technical roles in the field of Planning and Development.
  • Support the distribution of employment and training opportunities in the planning and development of our city.
  • Design of networking engagements for BIPOC-led planning and development organizations
  • Anonymous summary of BIPOC planning and development sector strengths and opportunities to the City of Toronto and other levels of government

Ontario Line CBA Campaign

The Ontario Line, Canada’s largest public infrastructure project in history, risks being built without any meaningful benefits for the community. In November 2022, Metrolinx awarded 50% of the project in contracts with private developers, valued at about $15 billion, without any mention of the promised Community Benefits Agreement as announced in May 2021 by the federal government in their approval of funding for the project.
