TCBN Contributes to New Women in Trades Research

Toronto Community Benefits Network (TCBN), through Her Path Forward, is proud to have contributed to the Women in Trades: Progress Report, new research led by Toronto Metropolitan University’s Diversity Institute and supported by the Future Skills Centre. The report examines the persistent barriers affecting women’s participation in the skilled trades, including challenges accessing apprenticeship opportunities, mentorship and professional networks, as well as workplace culture, harassment, inadequate equipment and barriers to retention and career advancement.

The findings reinforce the importance of moving beyond recruitment and creating the conditions for women to enter, stay, succeed and advance in the skilled trades. Through Her Path Forward, TCBN continues to work alongside women, unions, employers, training providers and community partners to strengthen mentorship, wraparound supports, workplace inclusion and pathways to advancement. By contributing frontline experience and community perspectives to research such as this, TCBN is helping connect evidence with action and advance practical solutions that can build a stronger, more inclusive construction workforce. See full report
