In January, the design for the new TTC Line 2 subway cars were released along with updates regarding the use of Canadian content in the manufacturing process. In total, at least 55 new TTC subway cars will be built by Alstom which will create 946 good paying and unionized jobs across the Province.
Over the past year, the TCBN has engaged with TTC and Alstom to inform an equitable hiring plan and supply chain diversity plan, both of which have been included as project deliverables. As governments and institutions look to prioritize local supply chains and workforce opportunities, TCBN continues to ensure new purchasing, infrastructure and development prioritize inclusive local economic development.
