Carpenters Local 27

Carpenters Local 27 is a progressive labour organization that represents over 7, 000 members working in a variety of skilled trades, including carpentry and resilient flooring. Local 27 is part of 16 Local Unions across Ontario affiliated with the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario, which has over 22,000 members province wide.

The Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario (“CDC”) is composed of 16 affiliated Local Unions of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners across the province. In total, we represent over 20,000 women and men working in a wide range of skilled trades, including carpentry, drywall, resilient flooring, concrete form work, underwater construction, welding, scaffolding, and a long list of other construction-related work.

The United Brotherhood of Carpenters is one of North America’s largest building-trades unions, with nearly a half-million members in the construction and wood-products industries.

Our work consists of many trades that fall under the jurisdiction of the Carpenters’ District Council of Ontario. These include:

  • Carpenters
  • Drywallers
  • Resilient Floor Workers
  • Shinglers
  • Siders/Metalmen
  • Trim Carpenters (High Rise and Low Rise)
  • Caulkers
  • Industrial Workers
  • Servicemen
  • Divers

We support these trades with training and apprenticeship programs in our various training facilities. Our programs help our members upgrade their skills and encourage new members to join the trade.
